Campaign Analyzer User Guide

Summary: This goal of this guide is to share the benefits of MDR’s Campaign Analyzer email campaign reporting and demonstrate how to make the most of the reports now available to you.  

 

What is Campaign Analyzer?

 

Campaign Analyzer is a free component of the MDR Email Solution suite that gives you comprehensive feedback on your active and past email campaigns.  You can view your results across key individual, building level and geographical level demographics.  This report will give you new insight on each of your campaigns to increase your e-marketing ROI and generate more sales.

 

Will I get Campaign Analyzer for every message I deploy?

 

Comprehensive Campaign Analyzer reporting is currently available on the following products:

Standard campaign summary reporting and results over time reporting is available for:

Campaign Summary:

 

Each campaign you execute includes a quick summary of key campaign deployment metrics. This section defines the universe that will be used for the rest of the report.

 

 

Explanation of Terms in the Campaign Summary Section:

 

Campaign Synopsis:

 

E@quire Addresses = Includes the total number of MDR-supplied deliverable email addresses that were deployed.

 

Total Email Addresses = If customer-supplied email addresses deployed as part of this campaign, they are included on a separate line below the MDR addresses. The total email address category combines both MDR and customer emails. 

 

Campaign Results:

 

Total Deliverable Messages =   Includes the total number of emails that are deemed deliverable, based on a positive response from the deployed-to email server. This number is less than the total deployed amount (not shown) as it is subtracts hard bounces, invalid addresses, syntax errors or other recorded undeliverable explanations.

 

Full Mailboxes – Not Delivered = Includes the number of valid email addresses that were not delivered at the time of the report because the recipients’ box was full. This number will change over the first 24-48 hours of a campaign as our deployment vendor will re-attempt to deliver these messages for a period of time. These are valid addresses and are counted in the total deliverable messages number but have encountered this temporary non-delivered status.

 

Blocks = Blocks occur prior to the campaign leaving the deployment vendor, and are based on global suppression or other vendor-wide suppressions. Not counted in the Total Deliverable Messages.

 

Opt-Outs from this Campaign = Opt-Outs include the current total of anyone who has clicked on the opt-out mechanism included in the campaign message.

 

Response Tracking:

 

Total Opens =   total number of opens recorded for this campaign. For a message to be recorded as “opened”, the end recipient must have a HTML enabled email client and have image downloading enabled.  For more information about Open Rates see Appendix A. Total Opens can be affected by recipients opening the message multiple times.

 

Unique Open =   includes the total of unique opens for the campaign. Only one open per email address is recorded no matter how many times they opened the message.

 

Tracked Links:

 

Each tracked hyperlink in the email message is reported here. The number of clicks are unique (net) per link.

 

 

Send a Friend:

 

If the Send-a-Friend option is used on the campaign, the results will be recorded under this section.

 

Total Send a Friend Forwards = includes the total number of additional emails deployed by recipients of the original campaign using the Send-a-Friend option.

 

Additional Email sent % = helps you understand how much the Send a Friend feature has contributed to your campaign results.  It is the Total Deliverable Messages divided by the Total Send a Friend initiated emails.

 

Send a Friend Opens = Total Opens for all Send a Friend emails sent.

 

Send a Friend Opens percentage = Total Send a Friend forwarded emails sent divided by the number of Send a Friend Opens.

 

Send a Friend Clicks = Total clicks for all Send a Friend emails sent.

 

Send a Friend Clicks percentage = Total Send a Friend forwarded emails sent divided by the number of Send a Friend Clicks

Note: all of the percentages in the right hand column are calculated by dividing the current number being reported on in the Total Deliverable Messages.

 

 

Total Opens/Clicks by day by URL:

 

This section displays the Total Opens and Clicks that occurred per day. It displays the Open or Click per day through Day 7. Day 14 is the total of Opens/Clicks that have occurred since Day 7. Day 21 is the total of Opens/Clicks that have occurred since Day 14. Day 30 is the total of Opens/Clicks that have occurred since Day 21.

 

The report has a line for Total Opens, Total Clicks and one line per tracked link in the message with total clicks per day.

 

 

Total Opens and Clicks by Day (with rolling totals)

 

This section reports the total number of Opens and Clicks that have occurred through the day. The report has a line for Total Opens, Total Clicks and one line per tracked link in the message with the total of clicks recorded as of that day.

 

 

 

Opens and Clicks By Keycode Value:

  

MDR’s list ordering system allows for email campaign list to be split into different segments. These segments can be used to isolate various subsections of the list so that they can be treated independently.  MDR allows for these segments to be keycoded by various selection data. For example, you could keycode your list by Computer Intensity (how many computers in the classroom), then you would see open and click results by this keycoded detail.

 

All of the KeyCoded results are presented in a list that can be sorted by column headers. To view the campaign results by each individual Keycode, click on the [+]” icon and the report will expand with the campaign results broken out for the variables of that keycode.

Literal Keycode by Day by URL

 

 

MDR’s list ordering system allows for email campaign list to be split into different segments. These segments can be used to isolate various subsections of the list so that they can be treated independently.  MDR allows for customer labeling of these segments through the use of a “Literal” keycode. This means the customer creates and supplies MDR with a name for this segment that will be passed though as a “Literal” label.

 

This section will only populate if Literal keycodes were used in the list order. 

 

All of the  Literal Keycoded results are presented in a list that can be sorted by column headers. To view the campaign results by each individual  Literal Keycode, click on the [+]” icon and the report will expand with the campaign results broken out for the variables of that Literal Keycode.

Segment Opens and Clicks by Day by URL

 

MDR’s list ordering system allows for email campaign list to be split into different segments. These segments can be used to isolate various subsections of the list so that they can be treated independently.

 

This section will allow you to view the results of a particular list segment that was used in the list order.

 

All of the Segment results are presented in a list that can be sorted by column headers. To view the campaign results by each individual  Segment, click on the [+]” icon and the report will expand with the campaign results broken out for the variables of that Segment.

 

Please consult with your Sales Account Rep or your Customer Service Support person for a copy of your list order segmentation criteria.

Campaign Results by Institution Type

 

Campaign Analyzer will break out the results of the campaign based on the different institutions where email was sent.  Each institution-based section will display only if there were email addresses included in the campaign for that institution type.

 

Each Institution Type has a number of demographic elements against which campaign results can be compared.  

 

List of Institution Type reporting categories:

These Institution result summaries will display in a collapsed format, by default. To expand or collapse them, simply click anywhere on the yellow title bar of the Institution you wish to view.

 

 

 

 

 

DISTRICT

 

This Institution profile will be populated if there were email addresses included in the campaign for that institution type.

 

 

 

Districts By Enrollment Field Definitions:

 

Total Public District Universe = the total deliverable records (as defined in the Campaign Synopsis section) from the email addresses included in the campaign for that institution type.

 

Percent of Total = The Total Public District Universe divided by the Total Deliverable Messages of the campaign.

 

Universe Coverage = The number of the Total Public District Universe for each sub group (i.e. number of Total Public District Universe that falls into the 1-599 bucket)

 

Universe Coverage Percentage = The percent of this sub group to the Total Public District Universe

 

Total Opens = Total Opens from the campaign associated with this sub group.

 

Open Rate = The percent of opens in the this sub group to the total number of opens in the Total Public District universe.

 

Total Clicks = Total Clicks from the campaign associated with this sub group.

 

Click Rate = The percent of clicks in the this sub group to the total number of clicks in the Total Public District universe.

 

Enrollment Ranges = The following enrollment ranges are reported: 1-599, 600-1199, 1200-2499,2500-4999,5000-9999,10000-24999,25000+, Unclassified

 

 

District By Day Field Definitions:

This section displays the Total Opens and Clicks that occurred per day reported on. It displays the Opens or Clicks per day through Day 7. Day 14 is the total of Opens/Clicks that have occurred since Day 7. Day 21 is the total of Opens/Clicks that have occurred since Day 21. Day 30 is the total of Opens/Clicks that have occurred since Day 21.

 

The report has a line for Total Opens, total Clicks and all of the tracked links in the message with total clicks per day.

 

 

 

PUBLIC SCHOOLS

 

This Institution profile will be populated if there were emails in the campaign sent into this Institution type.

 

 

Public Schools by Enrollment Field Definitions:

 

Total Public Schools Universe = The total deliverable (as defined in Campaign Synopsis section) records from the outbound file that were from this file type

 

Percent Total of the campaign = The Total Public School Universe divided by the Total Deliverable Messages of the campaign.

 

Universe Coverage = The number of the Total Public School Universe for each sub group (i.e. number of Total Public School Universe that falls into the 1-99 bucket)

 

Universe Coverage Percentage = The percent of this sub group to the Total Public School Universe

 

Total Opens = Total Opens from the campaign associated with this sub group.

 

Open Rate = The percent of opens in the this sub group to the total number of opens in the Total Public School universe.

 

Total Clicks = Total Clicks from the campaign associated with this sub group.

Total Libraries Universe = The total deliverable records (as defined in Campaign Synopsis section) from the outbound file that were from this file type

 

Percent Total of the Campaign = The Total Libraries divided by the Total Deliverable Messages of the campaign.

  

Universe Coverage = The number of the Total Libraries Universe for each sub group (i.e. number of Total Libraries Universe that falls into the 1-9999 bucket)

 

Universe Coverage Percentage = The percent of this sub group to the Total Libraries Universe.

 

Total Opens = Total Opens from the campaign associated with this sub group.

 

Open Rate = The percent of opens in the this sub group to the total number of opens in the Total Libraries Universe.

Daycares by Population Served Field Definitions:

 

Total Daycares Universe = The total deliverable records (as defined in Campaign Synopsis section) from the outbound file that were from this file type

 

Percent Total of the Campaign = The Total Daycares by the Total Deliverable Messages of the campaign.

 

Universe Coverage = The number of the Total Daycares Universe for each sub group (i.e. number of Total Daycares Universe that falls into the 1-10 bucket)

 

Universe Coverage Percentage = The percent of this sub group to the Total Daycares Universe.

 

Total Opens = Total Opens from the campaign associated with this sub group.

 

Open Rate = The percent of opens in the this sub group to the total number of opens in the Total Daycares Universe.

 

Total Clicks = Total Clicks from the campaign associated with this sub group.

 

Click Rate = The percent of clicks in the this sub group to the total number of clicks in the Total Daycares Universe.

 

Population Served Ranges = The following enrollment ranges are reported: 1-9999, 10,000-39,999, 40,000-79,999, 80,000-199,999, 200,000-399,999, 400,000-999,999, 1,000,000+, Unknown

Opens and Clicks by Job Title / Course Taught:

 

This section shows campaign summary total opens and clicks results by the Job Titles (K12) and/or Courses Taught (Higher Ed). The designation of Job Title or Course Taught is based on the Institution the Job Title or Course Taught that was selected via the list order. If a instructor holds multiple Job Titles, the Job Title that will be reported on will be the one specified when the list was ordered. If no Job Title was speficially requested via the list order, the results will be reported by default Job Title that the person holds.

 

Only campaigns that contain K12 or Higher Ed personnel will show up in the Opens and Clicks by Job Title / Course Taught report section.

 

 

 

Opens and Clicks by JobCodes/College Course Codes Field Definitions:

 

Deliverables = The total number of the Total Deliverable Messages universe that fall in this Job Title/Course Taught.

 

Total Opens = Total Opens from the campaign associated with this Job Title/Course Taught.

 

Open Rate = The percent of opens in this Job Title/Course Taught to the total number of deliverables in this Job Title/Course Taught.

 

Total Clicks = Total Clicks from the campaign associated with this Job Title/Course Taught.

 

Click Rate = The percent of clicks in the this sub group to the total number of deliverables in the Job Title/Course Taught.

 

 

 

 

Opens and Clicks By State:

 

This section contains a table that displays the results of the campaign by US state.

 

These Opens and Clicks by State results summaries will show up collapsed by default. To expand or collapse them, simply click anywhere on the yellow title bar of the Institution you wish to view.

 

 

 

This section will show the summary total opens and clicks by State. The designation of state is based on the Institution that the email address is associated with and the person associated to this email address.

 

Only states that were in the deployment that had results will show up in the Opens and Clicks by State report section.

 

Additionally, this report section will also show the total Clicks on the two most popular links in the message by state. This is does not show all the activity on all the links in the message, just the top two most selected across the entire campaign.

 

 

Total Opens and Clicks by State Field Definitions:

 

State =     The state that the email address is associated with based on their institution’s mailing address.

 

Total Opens = Total Opens from the campaign associated with this data point.

 

Total Clicks = Total Clicks from the campaign associated with this data point.

 

Link 1 = The total clicks to the most clicked link in the campaign.

 

Link 2 = The total clicks to the second most clicked link in the campaign.

 

 

 

 

Data Export Feature:

 

 

Campaign Analyzer has a Data Export (Export Details) feature where you can save all of the campaign results to several popular file formats including:

To initiate the Data Export function, click the [Export Detail] button located at the top of the report in the summary section.

 

 

 

 

This will open a new browser window with the Campaign Analyzer report in a report export screen.

 

 

 

 

 

From this screen you can choose a file format to export to from the drop down menu located at the top. The Export Link (located just to the right of the drop down box) will be greyed out and not clickable until you choose a file format. Once you select a file format from the list, the link will become active. Click it to initiate the file transfer.

 

 

 

 

 

Click on Open to open your file or Save to save it to your local hard drive:
